*Wacky Cake








1 1/2 cups flour
1 cup sugar
2 TB cocoa powder
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp baking soda 

Sift dry ingredients together and put into a greased 8x8 baking pan.
Make 3 holes in the dry mixture

Drop 1 tsp vanilla in one hole
1 tsp white vinegar in another
3 TB salad oil in third hole

Pour 1 cup water over all and mix well.

Bake 30-40 min, 350 degrees.
Frost in pan with chocolate frosting.

* I wrote this here as it was written on my grandmother's recipe card. For the chocolate frosting use your favorite recipe, or use this great recipe from Hershey's!
  • "PERFECTLY CHOCOLATE" CHOCOLATE FROSTING
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) butter or margarine
  • 2/3 cup HERSHEY'S Cocoa
  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/3 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • Melt butter. Stir in cocoa. Alternately add powdered sugar and milk, beating to spreading consistency.
  • Add small amount additional milk, if needed. Stir in vanilla. About 2 cups frosting.
